Amie and Christian were introduced by friends many years ago. Amie says, “We were not really into each other.”
“He thought that I was annoying, and vice versa!” We finally went on our first date to the Cosy Club in Birmingham. “We had a wonderful time, but we were both denial about how much we liked each other.”
Gardening at Home
Christian proposed to the couple in July 2022 after they had been together for three years. Amie says, “I am a home girl. My parents have a large garden.” “I thought I would go there to relax by the fire, since they live so far away. When I entered the gate I was surprised to see my mum’s phone. It was also my favorite song that my bestie normally sings. But it didn’t click. My dad then opened the curtain, and my friend was singing our song as her husband played keyboard. I was in shock. Then, the moment came. After we celebrated, Christian took me back to where we had our very first date. It was perfect.”
Shopping for the Dress
Amie says, “The same bestie who sang at my engagement also bought her dress from WED2B seven years ago.” We went to the WED2B shop in Shirley. I knew what I wanted. The first dress I tried was the one I chose. I tried on a few others, but I was already convinced! They knew what I wanted in a matter of seconds. “They made me feel like I was a princess.”
Amie chose Camelia. You can also check out Alva and Anwar for similar styles.
She says, “I am a Christian and wanted something modest yet flattering.” “I love lace, so I imagined lace sleeves. I wanted something slightly off-the-shoulder, but this dress is so elegant and flattering that it was a necessity. “The detail on the dress is amazing.”
CASTLE WEDDING VENUE
The wedding will take place at Rowton Castle, Shrewsbury, on the 4th of November, 2022. Amie says, “Christian and I love to travel to historic venues such as churches, castles, or other historical places.” We saw the castle wedding venue on Covid before Christian proposed. We visited the castle as soon as we were engaged and fell in love with it. It is a beautiful place. “The staff are impeccable.
THE BIG DAY
Amie: “I prepared with my best girlfriends, Natalie, Kiera, and Anna, as well as Anna’s two beautiful little girls, who were the most gorgeous flower girls you can imagine,” she says. We got ready in the toilet, which was incredible. Christian and his siblings got prepared in the main castle. We were worried about the weather as it was November. But the sun was shining, and I was astonished. It didn’t rain as predicted.”
Amie says, “Our song was Jesus At The Centre of It All” by Maverick City. Our pastor read a Christian ceremony. “The vows are very special to me.”
Where you go, I’ll go; where you remain, I’ll stay. Your people will become my people, and your God my God. Where you die, I will also die and be buried there. If death is the only thing that separates us, may God deal with me.
PHOTOS AND CANAPES
Amie says, “After the ceremony we had canapes and photos.” We were all starving. Getting married is a lot of work. “There was also music, drinks and general chatter before we went to dinner.”
A SIMPLE BUT ELEGANT LOOK
Amie says, “I made all the decorations myself except for top table flowers.” “I didn’t really have a theme. It was modest and elegant. There was a large buffet of sweet potato fries and chicken, ribs or fish, rice, vegetables, and rice. It was so much food. I put sweets into a glass instead of favours. Our fellow church members provided the music, which ranged from gospel to rap. It was great.”
The Best Bits…
Amie says, “There were many memorable moments. But I think my vows was the highlight.” “I was melted by the look of my husband’s face when I saw him for the first time.”
